PORTFOLIO

My experience in the environmental planning, consulting, and engineering sector has given me useful insight into the critical role communications and visioning play in the dynamic interchange between governmental regulators, consultancies, and the public sector. Crafting messages that build a sense of trust and confidence while leveraging the power of relationship is key to sharing an overarching vision to achieve a common goal. Community outreach to stakeholders of public resources requires compelling storytelling in clear, concise language that can effectively disclose information on proposed initiatives involving resource considerations.

Vehicle logo signage application

JBR Environmental Consultants hired me to apply their newly designed logo to a comprehensive rebranding effort to support their 10 locations across the western U.S. My goal was to create a fresh brand design, messaging, and internal/external marketing campaigns announcing JBR’s new look. I conducted employee meetings and identified brand stakeholders to help construct communications channels and messaging. I also applied JBR’s new mark and developed a brand design for all touchpoints of interaction with staff and customers, managed vendor production of signage and printed collateral, and organized direct mail initiatives. Work also included the development of proposals, enhancing their presentation to assist in winning client accounts. Rebranding efforts contributed significantly to the brand equity of JBR when the company was purchased by Stantec in 2014.

Kleinfelder

Main cover illustration

Santa Rosa, CA

Kleinfelder, an engineering, design, construction and professional environmental services firm serving the private sector, hired me to create a new approach to their usual proposal development process. My inspiration was to create visionary imagery for the cover, imagining the flourishing fauna and flora that would result from the completed project. I took reference photos of the project area from which to create pen and ink illustrations, and then printed and hand-assembled the required 10 proposals for submission on environmentally-friendly paper. For each section, vignette illustrations of various endangered species needing protection during the project were created. I also assisted with copyediting, layout and design for the proposal and qualifications leave-behind brochure.

Pivot Environmental

Serving the Intermountain West

After years of experience working for large, formal environmental consulting firms, the CEO of Pivot wanted to differentiate his brand by creating a simple, straightforward perception that could relate to the more casual-minded clientele of small to mid-sized businesses. I worked with him on the name development, tagline, and clear messaging to express adaptability in changing the way environmental consulting is typically done by relating directly to the basic needs and concerns of the customer, without all the puff.

Altresco Integrated

Denver, CO

Diagram organization and illustration

Altresco, a developer of efficiently integrated renewable energy infrastructure, needed a Powerpoint presentation for the Navajo Nation showing how a sustainable path toward energy independence was possible (with Altresco’s assistance) by building a natural gas power plant. I created a organizational diagram showing funding, production, and revenue flow to visually communicate how the relationship between existing and possible infrastructure could establish a foundation for growth for the Navajo Nation.

Redstone Environmental & Planning Consultants wanted to create a brand that would appeal to the primary audience of Native American tribes in need of project permitting and planning, systems design, construction management, and business planning and development. Identity, stationery and collateral were created with an earthy palette and natural imagery. Copy editing and writing assistance was given to communicate how Redstone has unique experience working with tribal leaders looking to improve the lives and opportunities of the members of their community.
